Big birthdays sometimes come with big presents and they do not come much bigger than hot air balloons. This lucky boy was given a voucher for a hot air balloon trip by his mum and sister. Whoa! What a treat!
At this time of year , with Sky Bus Balloons, you can book an early morning flight (7:00am) or an evening flight (5:30pm). It was decided that the early morning flight was the one to go for.
The morning of the flight was perfectly still with blue skies all around. We met the ballooning team (Tony and Arnie) at the London Beach golf course near Tenterden. It was really interesting to see the balloon being set-up and even better to be asked to help out. It was surprisingly easy to assemble and with a few blasts from the burner and it was up.
The captain (Tony) has 30 years experience in hot air ballooning and is also an instructor, he was very professional from start to finish and was more than happy to answer our questions. The ride was smooth and the views were magnificent. It’s so very peaceful, you can hear a pin drop in the basket and looking down on all the cars and people going about their day was very entertaining.
The trip concluded with a celebratory glass of fizz and the opportunity to ask Tony and Arnie any questions that we had and to learn a bit more about the balloon itself.
It was a really great experience and a big thanks to all who made this day possible for us.
