Horning to South Walsham

Woke up to a beautiful Horning, in the morning. So calm and peaceful. Cup of tea with the ducks and geese. 20 yards from the boat was a café, the Willow & Staithe. There is no chance we are passing up the opportunity for a cooked breakfast, so we take a seat in the sunshine. It’s a quality breakfast that sets us up for the day.

With breakfast out the way, its time to head to our next destination, the picturesque civil parish of Hoveton & Wroxham and a full days sailing ahead.

The water way is quiet and we all enjoy a go at the helm. The approach to Wroxham is delightful in the sun with some very nice waterside properties to look at. We arrive at Wroxham to find it busy with restaurants serving food and plenty of people but no parking spaces. We perform a handbrake turn heading back to the tranquillity of the open water ways. Our destination from here is South Walsham, past the Wroxham Broads. We stop off half way for an emergency cup of tea and a game of Scrabble. Our mooring skills are now pretty good and we pull up in the half shade and put on some deep house music. Nan wins the game of Scrabble and we feed some of the baby ducks floating by. What a great day.

Arriving at South Walsham we find a spot alongside some other boats. We are out the wind but in the sun which is setting fast. I take a stroll up the mooring path and take a seat on a fishing jetty. Its so very peaceful. Back to the boat for roasted vegetables and salmon. A game of Rummikub brings the day to an end, the sun sets and everyone retires. We open the roof hatch in our bedroom and count the stars before closing our eyes.
