West Bay, also known as Bridport Harbour is a charming fishing village located on one of the most dramatic stretches of the Jurassic Coastline and it is situated at the mouth of the River Brit, in Dorset. West Bay has enjoyed a surge in popularity in recent years while playing host to ITV’s smash hit Drama Broadchurch starring David Tennant and Olivia Colman.
West Bay offers some stunning landscapes to explore with breath-taking views from its cliff tops that surround the village. With delightful beaches and a wonderful selection of places to eat that surround the harbour, West Bay is favourite destination for holidaymakers and day trippers a like.
We decided to pop into Sammii G’s for a cuppa and some breakfast and we were pleased to come across an extensive menu to choose from to take away and sit around the harbour with, they also have some lovely local products perfect for gifts!
The harbour was a flurry of keen crabbers and we set off to the harbour arm to see the high tide on this stormy Tuesday. There are coastal walks along the cliffs and so you can choose to walk these if you wish, which we did to get a better view.
