Bewl Water <\/a>is the largest stretch of open water in the South East of England. The 800-acre site is set in an area of outstanding natural beauty, in the heart of the High Weald. There are plenty of things to do here including fishing, nature walks, cycling, canoeing and sailing to mention a few. The site is open all year round and parking is cheap, it’s \u00a32.00 all day.<\/p>\n

If you haven’t been out cycling for a while (like these two layabouts) it’s a great place to get into the swing of things again. There are cycle hire facilities on hand (if like these two you have left your bikes in a damp shed and they have gone all rusty and need servicing\/disposing of) that provide quality bikes and helmets at reasonable prices. You can hire bikes at \u00a313 for a couple of hours or \u00a323 for the whole day.<\/p>\n

If you want to cycle round the whole of Bewl Water the distance is 13 miles and it is said that can be done in 2-3 hours. If however, you need to stop after every small incline due to fatigue (like these two unfit desk-jockeys) then you may only make it a third of the way round before having to turn back.
\nIf you do get stuck or have an issue there is a water taxi that you can catch at the jetties situated around the lake that for a small fee of \u00a33.00 will take you back to the start.<\/p>\n

We think these two lightweights did pretty well seeing as they had not been on a bike for over a year. We were also informed that next day they were not only ‘feeling it’ in their legs and arms but also had ‘chafing’ in other places they didn’t want to mention. Oooer misses!<\/p>\n
